Crazy as it sounds I was just thinking exactly that. Who says the front and back have to be the same color? Especially with body bindings, that'd look great!

Interesting... The back is almost prettier than the front!

So will the front be stained blue vs. painted? That will be awesome!

Unique colors front and back are very common.

My custom has a maple body with pau ferro top. looks awesome!

Jazz guitars, and f5 mandos do this alll the time. It's often called a tuxedo finish. usually blonde(natural) and black, hence the term Tuxedo. It would be pretty sick, unique and ballsy to do a blue face and a natural back and neck on that thing. Are you any of those three?

Any more progress? I've been impatiently watching this thread. Does the builder have a website? Thanks.

Not to hijack but I think it fitts, has anyone seen pics of the Mandolin that is based on Bobs Mody? It was posted on another board and is just sick! Now Dozin's new Axe is the real deal but I thought it would be cool to mention what someone else built! Ill try to find a pic.

Definitely! the more I look at it the more I want it. I love the flame maple patterns on this guitar. Even the binding on the guitar has grain stripes in it. When I was checking out Weir's guitar I thought it was cool when I looked at the back and the neck. Wasn't expecting it when you look at the plain spruce top. The back of mine is really trippy to me and I like that a lot. I'm very excited. I think it might be here with in the month! Summer is here and the time is right! 8)

That looks amazing!

What's on the back of the headstock? Abalone, or just a lighting illusion?

It's Modulus Graphite. It's one piece that runs from the headstock through the neck of the guitar.
