I find it interesting how he sets his pickups with the low end towards the bridge and the high strings closer to the neck/middle. I would think above and beyond guitar amps and gear, a Bobby player needs a guitar with pckups set like this to get this era's tones. Wild setup I would love to try it. Those three singles placed like that must really give a specific tone, unlike conventional setups. anyone have a chance to play a guitar setup like that?

Right on Dozin, keep on truckin'. Its fun to watch your guitar progress.

Bob has many guitars that the public hasn't seen. They seriously went through a Mountain of cases looking for the 87 guitar.

I have a Blackknife set up like this guitar except the pickups are even vertically. Smooshed together like that the guitar gives you some real cut and chop through all the music in the band.

JD, you do see the dumheads sticker on the road case in the first pic right? I'm not calling anyone a dumhead, nor would I.

What is the reasoning why the pickups are so close together?

I was thinking the same thing. Im sure Dozin knows.....considering he IS holding it!!!

Also are those EMG SA pickups?

What would be the wiring scheme for that config he used on his 87 Blackknife? That guitar looks to be the same setup.

With the pickups squeezed together it gives more bite or presence. The 87 Blackknife had Bartilini pickups in it. SPC control and volume. 3 toggles, pickup cuts.

I have a BlackKnife that I will be selling. Chris has expressed interest. If he doesn't purchase it, I'll post pics here.
