My FAV, the 88 New Years show. It is on video, Jerry just nails the Bertha solo!

The only one I was at. I was seventeen and living in Mill Valley, took Bay Area Rapid Transit train to the Oakland Auditorium for this and the previous New Year's shows leading up to this one. A very small venue with a capacity of maybe 3,000 to 4,000 tops.

12-31-80 Oakland Auditorium Arena, Oakland, Ca.

Acoustic: Dire Wolf, On The Road Again, To Lay Me Down, Monkey & Engineer, Jack A Roe, Cassidy, All Around This World, Race Is On, Bird Song> Ripple

Set 1: Alabama> Greatest, TLEO, Rooster, China Cat> I Know You Rider, L. L. Rain, Althea> Sailor> Saint> Deal

Set 2: Sugar Magnolia> Scarlet> Fire, Estimated> Drumz> Other One> Wharf Rat> Around> Sunshine Daydream

Encores: Satisfaction> Brokedown

Happy New Year 2011 to all!!!

I made it to only one, the Cow Palace in '76.

Soundhole opened. Santana lit up the place. The Dead did what they were supposed to.

The cd version is way better than I remember the show to have been.

Not that it should make you feel better, but so did livephish. although it was fixed after set I, which they re-played right after the live cast ended. Not a bad arrangement for NYE parties on the left coast.
