Jerry Interviews

Jerry Interviews

Postby ebick » Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:04 pm

Being that this is Jerry Week.....Sirius/XM has been playing a lot of great Jerry Interviews, most of which I have only caught pieces of. Is there a good place to find and listen to recorded interviews?

Yes, I agree, is there a place for this? I was thinking just yesterday that i wanted to hear this great interview- Paul Kastner interviews Jer- around 84 or so. Anyway- all I have is the old cassette and nowhere to convert? Does the archive have any of these?

Thanks

I caught part of one with Scott Muni where he was talking about how he got together with John Kahn and Merl Saunders through Howard Wales. It was pretty cool. There was another one where the guy asked all the questions I always wanted to ask about the writing relationship between him and Hunter.

I was thinking that too. I wrote down dudes' names in the car. Will do more searching tomorrow.

The few interviews I have seen or read in transcript are like gold. What a well spoken, thoughtful, honest guy; and humble too. It would be cool to have a lot of interviews compiled in one place. I wish there were enough for a whole book.

It has been said that Garcia showed a "love of conversation" in some interviews- and that comes across. He is wickedly smart about a lot of things and has a really good way of relating things to each other.

Here is a directory full of transcripts from random interviews, with no order or organization, but there are some gems in there if you're willing to spend the time:

ftp://gdead.berkeley.edu/pub/gdead/interviews/

Also some other cool stuff there if you go back one directory.

Not sure whose info this is (maybe even someone on this board), but it is on a public ftp server at Berkeley, so it's fair game as far as I'm concerned.
