unrelated bands 80's +

Postby LazyLightnin » Wed Mar 23, 2005 9:01 pm

How about some opinons on some bands unrelated to the jam scene, or even the 3 great decades. 50's-60's-70's. Ive drawn a great deal of influence from some newer bands, quite frankly cuz my high school daze were from '95-99. (ima yungin' 8) )

heres a list of some bands that got me started in guitar. soon as i got into the Dead,Jerry had his bad one. so gimmie some slack, i was only 14 8)

The Clash
Sonic Youth- highly recommend even to deadheads
Scratch Acid
The Pixies
The Tubes
Nirvana
Jesus Lizard
Black Flag
The Jam
U2
Stone Temple Piolts (first 2 albums)
Guns n Roses - LOL
Buju Banton
The Pogues
Bad Brains

their are a choice few.....whadda yall think?
I really recommend Sonic Youth, specially the Daydream Nation album, they get some sounds ive never heard before, they were outta this world live. i saw them at lollapalooza '94, made infamous for courtney love having her clothes torn off in the pit , then prancing around onstage for about 8 mins nekked :( (shudder to remember)

i like a broad range of music, i always give 'em a chance. though ill never give up my tye dyes 8)

Never cared much for the Pogues, but The Clash's Sandinista is a great effort.

Sorry I'm so late on this reply... but I just joined
Dire Straights Brothers in Arms is my personal Fav from the 80's. AC DC Back in Black shows what rock was supposed to be, and, the Clash (doesn't matter what pre- 1984 album) showed that rock still mattered and cared .
