The band played perhaps the only fully instrumental version of El Paso in their long storied history.

?? This band has existed for a little under a year.

Does anyone know if Bobby has a history of high or low blood pressure?

I take meds for high blood pressure and several times my blood pressure dropped too low and it felt like one long sustained head rush, I felt very lightheaded and had trouble standing and seeing (focusing) normally. It felt like I was on the verge of passing out. Bob's behavior on stage reminded me of my low blood pressure experiences.

Another concern that I have is that Bobby might have been having an epileptic episode. Some petit mal seizures can occur and make the person appear "out of it" all the while the person is still functioning on some level without the full blown passing out and convulsions of a grand mal siezure.

In any case we should all pray for Bob's good health.

It's getting harder to stay in the saddle, I'm getting "weir-y" unable to ride.

I feel pretty bad for the guy, got to be awfully embarrassing. I had a terrible first set once on a bad pot brownie trip. Came back to play better than ever for second set though, once the buzz had settled in nicely. But that was all in front of maybe 75 people. And yeah, the guy is 62, shit happens. My father was a rock up until 68 and then all hell broke loose for about 3 years and now he is money again.

Then again, this Nokia show aside, he is still Bob Fucking Weir.

Total side note, anyone happen to catch the "head Set" on Sirius/XM Dead Channel yesterday at about 5PM EST. Was done by Rob Wolfson who used to play guitar in Illuminati and other projects, for all I know he is probably a member here on RUKIND. Anyway, one of the best head sets I've heard, opened it with the Music from Palladium '77 and somewhere in there had probably the best El Paso I have ever heard. Kudos Rob if you are out here.

sorry I didnt get to post from backstage it was crazy crowded back there.........anyway, as you would expect, people were pretty tight lipped backstage about the incident. Also, I tried not to be too obnoxious about getting info. I did get a couple tidbits from people close to the scene, but I hate spreading rumors that may not be true. So anything I say here let's just say is still just speculation and conjecture on my part and not from any "solid" source.

the prevailing sentiment seems to point to a very, very potent THC based baked good. Others maintain alcohol, but I just dont get that feeling.

One thing is sure, they want to move on (understandably so). It was a one time isolated incident, and not one person I talked to mentioned anything medical.

By the way Grateful Dad, your post is funny, not because I think it has anything to do with what Bobby experienced, but because I am an epileptic and my specific seizures were of the Petite Mal variety (I find that maybe 1 in 1000 people even know what that is) . It is hard to even diagnose Petite mal seizures because there is no shaking or anything. The person just gets spaced out and forgets who they are and where they are. They only last a few seconds, so many times the person having them has no idea even. The only reason I found out is that in 5th grade I had about 5,000 Petite Mal seizures chained together one after another so I lost a whole day of my life. Even then it took almost a whole day of school before a teacher recognized something may be wrong with me.

Add on top of that the fact that I am on High Blood pressure medication (Toprol ---a Beta Blocker) and your symptom/side effect description is right on there as well.

You pretty much had a direct insight into my being!

Last year at our yearly Garcia Birthday Bash (which was yesterday), there were also some "very potent THC based baked goods" in cookie form.
Many of us thought we had been dosed... "inability to stand up very well" was one of the symptoms.

A friend of mine took literally 2 (normal sized) bits from a THC chocolate chip cookie and was unable to play music and rehearse the entire night. Granted he is unexperienced with that type of thing and it effects people in different ways but the stuff they have available these days is pretty heavy.

Like the Wu-Tang, pot baked goods are nothing to fuck with. With out fail, anytime I hear a story of some guy getting a little too loose it centers around pot desserts. It's a inherently flawed process.
When was the last time you had just one brownie/cookie/cupcake? Your brain tends to disregard that there is pot involved and you can easily let it get away from you. Nevermind the fact that you have no way of knowing the quantity of THC you just ate. If i'm around pot laced sweets it's a pretty good chance i'm going to be the most fucked up person in the room.

I kinda figured there was a high probability without them laced sweets

I kid, I kid....

Had a pot cookie, once. It was small. Just 1. Was buzzing straight for too many hours and just wanted to come down. No fun.

Anyway, my recommendation is to just say no to slipping anyone anything and taking doses you cannot measure.

Okay, done with my short PSA...

BTW, I heard that Bobby OD'd on Cialis and had an erection lasting longer than 4 hours which caused lack of blood to his brain causing everything we witnessed and that Phil's hug was to hide the erection after his guitar came off. He got it resolved during setbreak.

Go Cialis

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you long
But the ones that mother gives you
Don't do nothing to your schlong
Go Cialis...

just got back from vacation and saw this post and watched the videos.

That was really bad and pretty shocking.

By the way Bobby's pants were also shocking. Couldn't he decide that whether or not to wear short or long pants?
