It's hard for me to get excited about the Allmans post-Dickie Betts, although I love Oteil Burbridge and Derek Trucks. The music is too formulaic and uninspired, for my taste. I would have loved to have seen them with Roy Haynes on drums at the Beacon a few years ago, and I've seen them maybe 15 times or so since the "re-incarnation". And Dickie Betts is better without the Allmans than when he was with them.
Gone are the days we stopped to decide where we should go, we just ride...
