Wow,
I just cannot believe how much people want for these now...........10 years ago people were giving these away, I am serious........I have 3 of them. I have an MC500 that looks EXACTLY like the one in this auction that I got off ebay in 1999 for around 375 dollars (give or take, my memory is shot, ya know)....then I got a beater MC400 that I converted into a Jerry axe for 200! (Because the MC500 is in such good shape I could not bring myself to cut it up......so I got the 400)..... Then I picked up an 82 MC350 so I could try to imitate Scott Murawski ( didnt work, I still cant play like him :? ) which I paid 500 for 6 years ago and was offered 4000 dollars for last year! (the MC350 NT's are the rarest musicians, I think there was like 70 or so made total.)

If my wife every knew what these were going for I would have a hard time justifying not selling one of them............

You just NEVER know what is going to become the hot vintage guitar. People HATED these guitars, they hated the look, they hated the Dark Stain, they especially hated the pickups, and now they are like gold!

This reminds me of the emmaculate 300 I came across in a music store about 7 years ago for about $500. It was in really nice shape and I started shaking thinking I struck gold. I thought I was gonna walk out with a gem for a steal. Until closer inspection revealed that the serial number had been scrapped off. I gently put it down in discust and left never to deal with that music store again. I was certain they knew about the serial number issue as they deal in guitars for a living ... scum bags.

whats the deal about the serial number? I undertand what it means and all but why would you not buy a guitar if the number was scratched out or missing? Just curious.

It was purposely scratched off. That means it was stolen/Hot. I'm not going to buy someon's stolen guitar or deal with a music store that knownly was selling it.

yeah chuckles you are right, not to mention that one of the switches is not original either. Something that small will knock the collectors off the auction as they are anal about everything being original. The ones that fetch top dollar are the ones that have the collectors bidding against each other for.
But the fact someone is asking that and not being laughed at says something about how much these guitars have skyrocketed in the last 5 years.
