I stumbled across this thread earlier today on another forum. It deals primarily much sought after the JG filter tone. It is from early 2008- you may or may not have come across it yourself. It does have some interesting insights. Here you go:

um... OK, I'll probably read this but... you are aware of all the other envelope filter threads and you started a new one? What's wrong with adding to an established thread?

I read that thread and the one thing I don't get is...
Original MuTron III's have been going really cheap on Ebay the last few months.
Power supplies and component rehabs are readily available.
Having been there done that, I'd say... Do yourself a favor and just get an original.
