Wondering...anyone out there ..have any insight as to where "Without a Net" was taken from (venues)....the cd liner says october '89 thru april 90....California shows?

I was at the Nassau LLR. The thunder, lightning and rain effects were awesome. A very high energy show, one of my favorite. All three nights were smoking.

The whole disc is East Coast ...
The band is light as a feather ...could it be any more loose than that ?The Band was definitely on a upswing during this time.
I love the recordings but many friends have said they dont care for it.Crisp.
Underrated I think.You never hear it mentioned in the same sentence as Live Dead or E 72.
Brent just kicks ass too.The singing the playing is top notch.
You can really hear how the band leans on Brent during the Help/Slip.He does all the Garcia riffs.
I always go to Blues for Allah for learning the Jerry Parts because the Without a Net's version has Brent playing a lot of Jerry riffs.Its cool,The album reflects the impact on the band Brent had.
After Brent died it was never the same for me.
If he hadnt died the band might have had many more great years of playing.

I would put it in a league with E72, but not Live Dead, which for me is the absolute pinnacle, untouchable, at least as far as multitrack captures that exist.

So what tracks on "Without a Net " did they "touch up" ?

They cleaned up some of the vocals on WOAN. Not many...but a few. I have compared many of the track mixes with the boards I have and most of it is pretty much the way they laid it down. It's mostly interesting just hearing the subtle mix differences.
