I just ran into this on youtube. Nice lesson, the guy uses like a CAGED method for Peggy-O solos in three positions. Interesting stuff.

Stich is awesome, I really enjoy his channel. I was a bit surprised with this one that he didn’t talk about learning to play the vocal melody and then leveraging some of that phrasing throughout the improv.

The melody can be played in A Major Pentatonic (it hits chord tones, as Stich focuses on). Something like this is close:
