Verse ending: Em B Em
Well I took the horses, up to the stall
Went to the ballroom, ordered drinks for all
Few days in the saddle, you know my body hurt
It being summer, I took off my shirt
And I tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt
West Texas cowboys, they’s all around
With liquor and money, they slowed us down
So soon after payday, though it seemed a shame
You know my uncle, he starts a friendly game
And a hi-lo Jack and the winner take the hand
Instrumental over 2 verses
My uncle started winnin’, cowboys got sore
One of them called in, and then two more
Accused him of cheatin’, whoa no it just couldn’t be
I know my uncle, he’s as honest as me
And I’m as honest as a Denver man can be
One of them cowboys, he starts to draw
Well I shot him down Lord, he never saw
Shot me another, hot damn he won’t grow old
In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold
And we high tailed it down to Mexico
Now I love them cowboys, and I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
And I left his dead ass down by the side of the road

Yes, I believe so.

Are you playing that G chord on the 7th fret?
Did they change the chord structure when they switched from the older C Am version? Always played it this way so maybe that's why it just sounds right to me. Not that it matters but what key is the song in G or E? I don't recall minor keys (Em) in my limited study of music theory. I play my leads in a G blues scale (same as E minor).
This is the only video I could find on the net to show a good example of how to hold the chords. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FpAWhb_UOZg
I've seen bobby do a A7 slide on the fifth fret also
